In case you are a network administrator, who wishes to back up all the important files and folders across the network, you will find that most applications for this purpose are very difficult to use and are not flexible enough. Bacula is different from all these programs, as it allows you to completely configure the backup parameters, by editing various configuration files. After the program has been installed, the user is able to open every configuration file using his preferred text editor, like Notepad or Wordpad.

Configuring these files requires some technical skills and as such, beginners may have some trouble in this situation. Still, reading the comprehensive help manual offered by the application can help you. After configuring backup parameters, you can test each configuration file by using the CMD tool. In case there are errors in the configuration, all of them will be listed in the CMD window. In order to view each backup job in real time, you can launch the Tray Monitor tool, which will create an icon in the system tray. By clicking on the icon, you will be able to view all active and programmed backup jobs and also spot all possible errors.

Pros

It allows you to back up all your files and folders across the network. What's more, it allows you to configure each program parameter by accessing various configuration files. Furthermore, it includes a tray monitor, which allows you to view all active and future backup jobs.

Cons

Configuring the application's functionality may be difficult for beginners. Using Bacula you can back up all your files and folders across the network in no time.
